Overnight Adventures

Miss Mel had a rucksack packed & everything ready for a spur of the moment quick getaway & after work adventure. We headed to Bridge of Orchy, and a fast paced walk from Victoria Bridge down Glen Kinglass, navigating high river crossings with hard doggy paddling, took us to our favourite secrect camp spot at Loch Dochard, managing to setting up camp just before sunset! A quick refreshing dip in the loch followed by wild style eating. No bowls for our dinner, eating straight from the ground like our ancestors! Then falling asleep under canvas listening to the sounds of nature (and random frogs trying to join us in the tent).

Last time we were here, we ate outside and sat till late enjoying the quietness, until scraping sounds from behind made us turn round. Drifty boy obviously thought that was our spot on the loch shoreline outside for the night and was gathering together dried grasses & moss into a pile making a comfy wee nest area? Bless, much to his surprise the whole pack was sleeping in the tent, warm & dry & all together!

Next day we woke to sunshine and headed further along the track for a slightly slower and more relaxed walk in the glorious weather. After, Miss Mel gets packed up and ready to head back, Boooooo! We want to stay, loving the freedom and constant water near by and rocks to bark at! On the way we stop off at a gentle cascade on the river for a bit of splashing about and gorge walking... All this cool water fun is great for us in the warmth of the summer day!

Lazy Bones

Not interested one bit in running around or chasing ball after yesterdays epic walk... but quite contented to laze under a tree soaking up the sun!

Doggy Paddling!

We've been doggies too hotty indeed for the past week and a bit. Continuing temperatures of 24-26 degrees is not that comfortable for a mostly black with a little white canine creature! We've had a few days in the park, lazing under a tree instead of running about daft. My silly brother just pants constantly and looks like he doesn't know where to put himself....  but me, clever little Finn, I lie with my white tummy towards the sun and that keeps me a tiny bit cooler. Failing that a big muddy puddle normally cools us down, but even they've dried up!
Miss Mel has been taking us to the beach a lot too, later in the afternoons when its still warm but not the midday scortching heat. I think its purely so she can jump in the sea to cool down, but we don't complain... we love our beach walks & swimming in the waves.

Doggy Bathtime

Not happy in the slightest!.... Funny how water in the river or at the seaside is so much fun but stick us in the bath for a wash and its like some sort of torture! But after rolling in fox poo the musky smelly aroma was a worse torture. While Mr Finn was, on the whole unhappy but co-operative, Drifty boy sat in his bed in the corner, facing the wall and grumbling away to himself.... and when it came to his turn... his agenda was to make himself a wide as possible, legs in all directions so as not to fit in the bath! Eventually, half an hour of gentle doggy shampoo and warm showering, 2 clean & fresh smelling dogs emerge.
